WELCOME!

This is the official site of the Hughenden Bowls Club Inc.

The Club's premises are situated at 9 - 13 Little Ave Hughenden on the North side of the Flinders River. The Club overlooks the River and the Robert Gray Memorial Park.

The Club is run entirely by the members as volunteers. This includes all aspects including the grounds, green, bar and the running of competitions.

Currently the Club is open Fridays from 6.00pm to late. Bowls under lights is available on a come as you like basis and organised by the attendees. Football (in season) can be viewed on the big screen. A fully stocked bar and pre-packaged food is for use by members and guests. A BBQ and Camp Kitchen are supplied for use by members. The site enjoys Wi-Fi and is fully air conditioned.

Sunday is our main bowling day. Names are to be in by 3.00pm for mix and match triples or as decided. The Club is generally open from 2.30pm to 7.00pm.

Our internal competitions are held on Saturdays and will be advertised on this site on Facebook and at the Club. Competition usually starts at 9.00am and the Club is open from then until competition finishes.

The Club has a Sportscrete synthetic green of 8 rinks. Lighting is available to conduct night and evening competitions. A retractable shade structure was installed in 2013. As mentioned, a fully licenced air-conditioned Clubhouse is available with a meeting area. Outdoor seating is available.

A billiard table (8*4) is available for the use of members (Full and Social) only.

A competition standard darts board is available.

History

The original Bowls facilities in Hughenden were commenced in the 1930’s near the powerhouse.

The Club moved to its current site in the 1960’s when the Clubhouse was also constructed.

The Men’s and Ladies Clubs merged in the early 1990’s.

The original tift-dwarf green was replaced by a synthetic green in 2008 as smaller numbers and the cost of water had rendered the natural surface uneconomic.

A retractable shade structure was erected in 2013.

The Hughenden Chamber of Commerce (first Monday) holds their monthly meeting at the Clubhouse. The Hughenden Show Society meet on an ad-hoc basis.
